I am an artist who likes to explore divergent themes and subject matter. I love colour, shape and form in the natural and man made world. I am also intrigued by the way the two intertwine and co-exist. Chief curator of Tate Britain, Judith Nesbitt, once described my work as, "A refreshing and new representation of the region." As a Northerner I took this as a great compliment.
A collector, Rachel Hidderley, Director at Christies, London, commented, "Mark makes the ordinary look extraordinary", which is something I find very pleasing as this is exactly what I aspire to do.
Much of my work in the gallery came out of Lockdown, when I think many people lost sight of what a glorious world we live in. I try to help and remind people how close we all are to the natural beauty that surrounds us all.
